Top 5 items needed for a photoshoot
Photoshoot day is my fav. It's when the vision all comes together. Of course it's not a viable vision because no one can live in a showhome. When styling a kitchen for a photoshoot, it's essential to create an inviting and visually appealing space that highlights key features. Here are the top five things needed for a kitchen photoshoot in my opinion.
Clean and Clutter-Free Surfaces:
This kinda goes without saying..... but before the photoshoot, ensure all surfaces are clean and free of clutter. Clear countertops, remove unnecessary kitchen tools, and focus on showcasing only the most visually appealing and functional items. I often find myself cleaning fridges and windows.
Strategically Placed Props:
This is where the showhome esk vibe comes into place, select props that enhance the kitchen's aesthetic without overpowering the scene. This could include a bowl of fresh fruit, a vase of flowers, or a stack of stylish cookbooks. Ensure these props complement the overall color scheme and theme of the kitchen.
Quality Cookware and Utensils:
Use high-quality, attractive cookware, and utensils to create a polished and professional look. Le creuset much. Arrange them thoughtfully and don't forget to display utensils in a stylish container. Opt for cohesive and visually appealing pieces that add to the overall composition.
Proper Lighting Setup:
Lighting plays a crucial role in photography. Ensure the kitchen is well-lit with natural light whenever possible. If additional lighting is needed, use soft and diffused light sources to avoid harsh shadows. Experiment with different angles to highlight the key features of the kitchen. I almost always just use natural light and I LOVE it when it comes through!!!
Styled Settings for Lifestyle Appeal:
Create styled settings that evoke a sense of lifestyle and functionality. For example, set a up a loaf of bread and a cookbook... it's the easiest and always softens the shoot.
Below is a kitchen that we recently shot that ticks off all the boxes.
