Elevator; A Renovation Story: Expanding Space, Elevating Life!
Renovation. Just hearing the word brings images of dust, chaos, and lots (I mean, lots) of takeout meals. But when it comes with the promise of more space, better functionality, and a home that will last through every chapter of life—well, suddenly the chaos seems worth it. Enter our latest renovation adventure, where we added square footage to the basement, main, and second floors, creating a home that’s both beautiful and built for aging in place. Oh, and we also threw in an elevator. Casual, right?
Let’s Talk Space
When we say we added square footage, we’re talking a serious upgrade. The basement, main, and second floors all got some extra breathing room, including a brand-new elevator running from the basement to the second floor. Who says you can’t enjoy your entire home without taking the stairs? Now, our clients can glide effortlessly between floors, and this feature sets them up for the future—because nothing says “I’m ready for anything” like an elevator in your house!
Hardwood Floors, and Oh, Those Stairs
Speaking of stairs, we made sure they got the attention they deserve. Hardwood treads with beautifully painted risers give a timeless, classy look that’ll make you want to walk up and down just to admire the craftsmanship. Plus, we added hardwood flooring throughout the main and second floors, because nothing beats that warm, luxurious feeling underfoot.
The Kitchen: A Showstopper
The kitchen got a serious makeover, and it's the heart of the home. Picture this: an oak island with a furniture base, surrounded by sleek, painted MDF cabinets. It’s a blend of materials that just works. The countertops are brand new (because who doesn’t love fresh surfaces to chop veggies on?), and we extended the backsplash in a classic brick pattern all the way to the ceiling for that extra wow factor. Oh, and for those wondering how we handled those pesky structural beams? We dropped areas to build in the beams and bulkheads, subtly separating the kitchen, great room, and nook—without adding walls. Open space and defined zones? Yes, please!
Cozy and Classy
The great room now features a full-tile fireplace with a TV mounted above—perfect for movie nights. And let’s not forget about the second-floor deck! This gem opens up from both primary bedrooms, letting in all the natural light and fresh air you could want. It’s like stepping out into a private sanctuary, except that sanctuary is your own backyard.
Details, Details
In the primary bedroom, we added built-ins to showcase the clients’ impressive collection of super fancy purses (because, why not?). The ensuite bathroom is all luxury, with a free-standing tub, a full-tile shower, and a floating vanity with a makeup desk. We even included a floor-mounted tub filler and custom-framed mirrors. Tile? We took it all the way up to the ceiling. The second ensuite boasts a curbless shower for easy access—because functionality and style can absolutely go hand in hand.
The Perfect Reading Spot
On the main floor, we created a cozy reading nook—complete with built-ins and plenty of windows, perfect for curling up with a book (or, you know, a cup of coffee on a lazy Saturday morning). While it might not have tons of books yet, the vibe is pure library.
In short, this renovation added more than just square footage. It brought fresh life to the home and ensured that our clients could enjoy it for years to come, no matter what the future holds.
