3 Tips for Successful Thrifting!
I get asked all the time how the heck did you find that? Well there really is a method to my madness. Below are three tips for successful thrifting.
1. Have a Plan: Before you go to a thrift store, make a list of what you're looking for and or a style board. This will help you stay focused and avoid getting overwhelmed by the sheer amount of items available. It's also a good idea to have an idea of what you're willing to spend on each item so that you don't overspend.
Here is an example of the items I currently have on my list that are missing in my closet. Of course I am not finding an Anine Bing blazer but I could find something oversized and similar.
2. Check the Quality: When shopping at thrift stores, it's important to carefully inspect each item before purchasing it. Look for any stains, tears, or other damage that might make the item unwearable. Also, check the labels to make sure the fabric is of good quality and won't fall apart after a few wears. This is an area that can save you a lot of money especially when it comes to cashmere or wool. They are both high cost quality items that can last for years to come.
3. Be Open-Minded: In other words get out of your own way! Thrifting requires a bit of flexibility and creativity. Don't be afraid to look outside of your usual style or size range. Can we say Men's section!!!!! You might be surprised by what you find and how it can be incorporated into your wardrobe. Additionally, keep an eye out for items that can be repurposed or up-cycled to create something new and unique.
